FAQs
Answers to the questions Skegness homeowners most often ask before booking a roof repair or a new roof build. For repair and roof building process and pricing questions, see our Roof Repairs & New Roofs Skegness page.
What areas do you cover from Skegness?
Skegness, plus Ingoldmells, Chapel St Leonards, Winthorpe, Burgh le Marsh, Wainfleet All Saints, Spilsby, Alford and Mablethorpe. Call 01754 8405675 if your area isn't listed. A lot of the coast between Boston and Mablethorpe is within reach of a Skegness-based team, so it's worth asking rather than assuming we don't cover you.
Do you offer free quotes?
Yes. We inspect the roof in person and give a fixed, no-obligation quote before any work starts, not a phone estimate that changes once someone's up on the roof.
How quickly can you respond to an emergency?
Same-day for active leaks and storm damage where possible. Call 01754 8405675. Non-emergency repairs are booked in around your schedule rather than rushed.
Do you offer commercial roof repairs in Skegness?
Yes. Alongside residential work, we carry out commercial roof repairs across Skegness for shops, offices, restaurants and other business premises. Flat roofing (felt, fibreglass or rubber) is common on commercial buildings and is one of our regular repair jobs, alongside leaks, storm damage, damaged flashing and guttering failures. We can work around your opening hours where needed to keep disruption to the business to a minimum.
Are you insured?
Yes: We have public liability insurance of up to £1,000,000. We can provide proof of insurance before work starts if you'd like to see it.
Do you offer a workmanship guarantee?
Yes: We offer a guarantee of between 5-20-years depending on the size of the project covering the repair itself rather than just materials.
Can you help with an insurance claim after storm damage?
Yes, we can help with insurance claims by providing professional damage assessments, written reports, and repair cost quote. This is a free service that we offer
Do you provide a written quote before starting work?
Yes. Every quote is confirmed in writing before any work begins, so there are no surprises on the final bill, and you've got something in hand if you want to compare quotes.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept bank trasnfer, cash and for smaller jobs we also accept card payment (not including Amex or other credit cards)
Do you offer roof inspections without repair work?
Yes we offer a stand-alone inspection and reports. This is a useful service for homeowners selling or buting a property or dealing with a survey flag or property valuation.
Can you inspect a roof as part of a house purchase in Skegness?
Yes we can inspect your roof as part of a pre-purchase or survey-flag inspections are offered, separate from a repair quote. A common need given the age of properties in the Skegness and Lincoln area.
Do you clean up after finishing a repair?
Yes. Old tiles, felt and other debris are removed from site as part of the job, not left for the homeowner to deal with.
What happens if it rains during the repair?
If it starts raining during your repair or rebuild, don't worry. The roof is left safely tarped and sealed if work can't be finished in one visit.
Do you offer ongoing maintenance to prevent future repairs?
Yes we offer gutter clearing, annual roof checks, or maintenance plans. If you book an annual gutter clearing and repair we can also offer you a discounted rate.
How do I know if I need a repair or a full re-roof?
Most issues we're called out for (a leak, a handful of tiles, damaged flashing) are fixable with a targeted repair. A full re-roof is only needed when the underlying structure has failed or a large proportion of the covering is beyond repair. We'll give you an honest answer after inspecting, not the more expensive option by default.
Do you build new roofs as well as repair them?
Yes. Alongside repairs, we build new roofs from scratch on extensions, garages and outbuildings, and carry out full re-roofs and replacements where an existing roof has failed beyond patching. See our Roof Repairs & New Roofs Skegness page for how that process works.
How long does a full roof replacement or new roof build take?
Most domestic re-roofs take 1-2 weeks depending on size, weather and access.
Do I need planning permission for a new roof or full replacement?
Standard re-roofing typically falls under permitted development so doesn't require planning permission. Planning permission or listed building consent would apply for extensions or listed buildings. We can help to review whether planning permission will be needed, if you are unsure.
Can you install a roof on a new extension or garage?
Yes. New roof installations on extensions, garages and outbuildings are one of the more common roof building jobs we quote in Skegness, alongside full re-roofs on existing homes.
What are your working hours?
Monday to Saturday, 7am to 5pm, with emergency call-outs outside these hours.
Is there a call-out charge just to get a quote?
No. Inspections and quotes are free, whether or not you go ahead with the repair.
Does the roof need scaffolding, and do I need to arrange access?
We assess this as part of the free inspection. Where scaffolding is needed, we arrange it as part of the job. You don't need to organise anything yourself beyond clear access to the property.
Is the guarantee transferable if I sell the house?
Yes, the workmanship guarantee is transferable to a new homeowner, which can be a useful selling point if you plan to move.
